Lincoln Receives one of 12 $40,000 STEM Grants!

Lincoln High School has received a $40,000 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Grant through the Minnesota Department of Education. Twelve grants were awarded in Early 2008. The $40,000 will be used to embed the MN Math Standards and create new and innovative programs in the STEM fields of study. At Lincoln, we have many new and innovative programs and curriculum that will be implemented in the 2008-2009 school year. Some of these programs include LEGO Robotics Curriculum, CAD Academy Engineering and Architectural software and Curriculum, Future Problem Solvers embedded into our Science courses, and much more. This site will help us showcase some of these important initiatives.

In addition to this grant, Lincoln High School also received a very generous donation of $25,000 from Hearth and Home Industry in Lake City. This donation will help Lincoln purchase some of the new equipment to be used through this STEM grant.

Information on the Grant From the MN. Dept Website:
Minnesota has secured funding from the state legislature and the National Governors Association (NGA) to develop a cohort of STEM K-12 schools and/or districts. Recipients of the Systemic STEM School Redesign grants will integrate the state’s recently revised math standards into new or existing comprehensive STEM initiatives and will serve as models to other schools and/or districts by sharing information and providing technical assistance.
