Fit Stats Fitness Tracking

The Fit Stats program is a fitness tracking program that allows teachers and parents to monitor their students' fitness levels as they progress through school. This program is internet based so parents will be able to view their child's results whenever they choose with the use of a password.

We will still be using the Presidential Fitness Challenge but the tests have been changed to match the Fitnessgram testing model.  This is the same fitness test that has been done by the High School for quite some time.   The reason for the change is that it is a better measurement for fitness than the older tests were. We do expect that all students will attempt to complete all of the tests unless there is a medical reason for not doing so.  The test results will not directly influence a student’s grade or what they will be doing in class but may help us to adapt our classes to better meet the needs of our students as a whole.

The tests include the following:
  1. Height
  2. Weight
  3. Mile Run
  4. Push-ups
  5. Curl-ups
  6. Flexed Arm Hang
  7. Trunk Lift
  8. Shoulder Stretch
  9. Sit-and-Reach
All of the data collected will be kept private and confidential, and will be for student use only.  If you have further questions please visit the Presidential Youth Fitness Program web site (http://www.pyfp.org/doc/making-the-case-pyfp-full.pdf or http://www.pyfp.org/ ) or contact us here at school.
