Lake City Preschool is a Four Star Parent Aware rated community preschool run by Lake City Schools for children 3, 4, and 5 years of age. Programs are aligned with the Minnesota Department of Education’s early childhood learning guidelines and kindergarten standards and run two, three, or five half days per week. The Macmillan/McGraw-Hill’s Little Treasures, comprehensive pre-k literacy curriculum is used in the preschool classroom which aligns with the elementary reading program. In addition, Every Mathematics, which emphasizes the application of mathematics to real-world situations, is also used in the classroom. Learning centers include dramatic play, art, writing, block, science, sensory, manipulative, music, movement and gross motor activities. The Work Sampling System assessment tool allows teachers to evaluate the skills of children through a series of evaluations, allowing teachers to make informed decisions about how to guide instruction. Lake City Preschool is an inclusive program working with children of all needs. Scholarships are available to families with financial need. Lake City Preschool is located in Bluff View Elementary at 1156 W.
