Welcome to Bluff View

Welcome to Bluff View Elementary School. My name is Eric Aeschlimann (ASH – leh-man) and I have served as principal at Bluff View since school year 2022-23. I am so excited to be leading such a wonderful school. I have already met so many teachers, students, and staff who are proud to be Tigers!

A little bit about me: I am married, my wife and I were both born and raised in rural South Dakota. I graduated from Luther College and was a PE teacher for much of my career. I taught in Alaska and Texas before moving to Minnesota in 2000. We have 3 children, ages 23, 21, and 17, two dogs, and one cat, and we live in Rochester.

My goal for Bluff View is to create a place where all of our students feel safe and a place where they can reach their full potential.

I look forward to growing with you, Bluff View. Let’s have a great school year.

Tiger Pride

Tiger Pride is Bluff View Elementary’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system.  Our Tiger Pride program strives to establish and teach students clear expectations for behavior, provide positive reinforcement and recognition and establish behavioral supports needed so that all students achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

Our school wide expectations are outlined in a matrix which is posted in the classrooms as well as throughout our school.  All of the staff at Bluff View will be handing out Tiger Paws to acknowledge the excellent behavior students display.  Through a variety of rewards, students following the expectations will be recognized!

Students, like all of us, will make mistakes and we have worked to categorize these into Majors and Minors so we can are able to quickly recognize who may need more supports in meeting these expectations.

At Bluff View Elementary we are excited to share our pride by showing respect, taking responsibility, and creating a safe and positive learning community!

It takes a village to raise a child, and we need villagers! Bluff View Elementary has volunteer opportunities for members of our community who are interested in helping out. We are looking for individuals who our students can read to, folks who are interested in working with struggling students on their work, and people who want to help create projects for teachers. We prefer volunteers who can commit to the same time daily/weekly if possible. Please send me an email or schedule an appointment if you are interested in being a Volunteer Tiger! Thanks,

Eric Aeschlimann
