Amy Rogness – Music Teacher, Lake City, MN

Hi! I’m Amy Rogness, and I’m proud to serve as the vocal music teacher in Lake City, Minnesota. I’ve been teaching here since 1997 at both Bluff View Elementary and Lincoln High School, and every year reminds me just how powerful and joyful music education can be.

I earned my undergraduate degree in music from Gustavus Adolphus College and later completed my master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University. My training gave me a strong foundation, but it’s the students who continue to inspire me every day.

In my classroom, you’ll find energy, creativity, and a strong sense of community. Whether we’re preparing for a concert, exploring music theory, or just singing for the joy of it, I strive to make every student feel valued and inspired. One of the most beautiful things about choir is the way it becomes a family. As we rehearse and perform together, students learn to trust each other, support one another, and build lasting connections. We celebrate each other’s successes and work through challenges as a team—and that bond goes far beyond the music.

Outside of school, I love supporting the arts in our community and encouraging students to share their gifts beyond the classroom. Watching them develop into thoughtful, passionate musicians and people is the best part of my job.

Music is more than a subject—it’s a way of life. I’m honored to be part of that journey with my students every day.
